Oh dominates Talley to advance to Women's Am quarterfinals

Glen Cove, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Su-Hyu Oh earned a dominant, 9 & 8 victory over defending champion Emma Talley on Thursday en route to a spot in the quarterfinals of the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship.

Oh also tallied a 4 & 3 victory over Liz Breed in her first match of the day at Nassau Country Club. She reached the quarterfinals at this event last year before losing to Talley, 5 & 4.

Oh and Talley each opened their match with a par at the first to halve the hole, but the rest of the match belonged to Oh as she won the next nine holes.

That run included four birdies and five pars, while Talley recorded two bogeys and three double-bogeys, including a five at the deciding par-3 10th hole.

Oh is the first player at this event to record a 9 & 8 victory since Angela Park defeated Jennifer Ackerson by the same margin in 2005.

Oh will face off against Kristen Gillman in the quarterfinals. Gillman earned her spot with victories over Celine Boutier and Casey Danielson.

Brooke Mackenzie Henderson, who was the low amateur at this year's U.S. Women's Open, was among the other six players to win a pair of matches on Thursday and advance to the quarters.

The other participants are Grace Na, Andrea Lee, Hannah O'Sullivan, Alison Lee and Eunjeong Seong.
