Superal, Navarro to battle for Girls' Junior crown

Flagstaff, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - Princess Mary Superal and Marijosse Navarro won two matches on Friday, and they will face off in the final match at the U.S. Girls' Junior Championship.

Superal needed 19 holes to beat Bethany Wu in the quarterfinals, then won the 18th for a 2-up victory over Cindy Ha in the semis.

Navarro held off Andrea Lee, 1-up in the quarterfinals, before beating Shelly Shin with an eagle on the 21st hole of their match.

Superal jumped out to a quick 2-up lead after two holes on the Meadow Course at Forest Highlands Golf Club. Ha birdied the fourth to get within 1-down, but Superal took the par-5 fifth with a par to again grab a 2-up lead.

After three straight halves, Superal moved 3-up with a par on the ninth. Ha rallied with birdies on 12 and 14 to get within 1-down. They traded wins at 15 and 16 before Superal birdied the 18th for a 2-up win.

Navarro birdied the second to go 1-up, but she bogeyed the fourth to square the match. She came right back with a birdie on No. 5. Shin took the second with a par to even the match once again.

Navarro made par on No. 9, but Shin won the next three holes to grab a 2-up lead. Navarro fought back with a birdie on 14 and another on No. 16 to square the match.

They halved four in a row from the 17th before Navarro made eagle on the par-5 third, the 21st hole of the match, to move on to the final.
