Kahkwa Club gets 2016 Women's Mid-Am

Far Hills, NJ (Sports Network) - The United States Golf Association announced Tuesday that The Kahkwa Club will host the 2016 U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur Championship.

The championship is scheduled to take place Sept. 10-15 at the course in Erie, Pa., which previously hosted the 1971 U.S. Women's Open and the 2004 U.S. Women's Amateur.

"The USGA is excited to bring another national championship to The Kahkwa Club," said Thomas J. O'Toole, Jr., USGA vice president and chairman of the Championship Committee. "The club has demonstrated its devotion to sustaining and growing women's golf by hosting previous championships, and this commitment is only further emphasized by its challenging course, which will sufficiently test the nation's best female mid-amateurs."

Meghan Stasi defeated Liz Waynick, 6 & 5, at last year's U.S. Women's Mid- Amateur Championship at Briggs Ranch Golf Club in San Antonio to capture the title for the fourth time.

The 2013 Women's Mid-Amateur Championship will be conducted Oct. 5-10 at Biltmore Forest Country Club in Asheville, N.C.
