Oda charges to win in Japan
Nishinomiya. Japan (SportsNetwork.com) - Koumei Oda fired a 5-under 67 on Sunday to come from behind and win the Kansai Open Golf Championship.
Oda collected his seventh career victory on the Japan Golf Tour at 15-under- par 273.
Third-round leader Yoshinori Fujimoto tripped to a 1-over 73 during his final round at Rokko Country Club to fall into second place at 13-under 275.
Brad Kennedy (68), Hiroo Kawai (69) and Dong-Kyu Jang (69) shared third at 12- under, while Tetsuji Hiratsuka (73) finished in sixth at 11-under.
Oda parred his first two holes before rolling in a birdie at the second. He gave that shot back with a bogey at the fifth, but then birdied the sixth and seventh to make the turn at 12-under.
He converted two more birdies at the 12th and 14th to reach 14-under and after posting a bogey at the 15th, Oda eagled the 18th to head into the clubhouse at minus-15.
Fujimoto, meanwhile, opened his round with birdies at the first and sixth to reach 16-under, but then bogeyed the seventh, 15th and 16th to finish two shots off the pace.
