=== Opening lap crash briefly delays British GP ===

Silverstone, England (SportsNetwork.com) - The British Grand Prix was stopped
for approximately one hour after Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa
from Williams were involved in a collision on the first lap of Sunday's 52-lap
 race at Silverstone Circuit.

Raikkonen ran wide coming out of a corner and then came back on track but the
Finn clipped a bump. He lost control and slammed hard into the barrier before
his car spun across the track and into the path of Massa.

Raikkonen, the 2007 Formula One world champion, climbed out of his badly-
damaged car under his own power but was limping as he walked away. He was
complaining of soreness in his ankle and taken to the circuit's medical care
center for evaluation. Raikkonen was later diagnosed with a badly-bruised
 ankle.

Massa was not injured during the incident but sustained heavy damage to his
 car.

"I just saw a car in front of me," Massa said. "Kimi crashed and was coming
into me. I turned right, and he hit me."

The safety car was deployed immediately following the crash, but the race was
red-flagged for track cleanup efforts and repairs to the severely-damaged
guardrail where Raikkonen made impact. The safety car guided the field back to
pit lane, where it remained while cleanup and repairs were being made.

Nico Rosberg from Mercedes started on the pole and held the lead when the race
 was stopped.
