=== Stony Brook names McCombs head women's basketball coach ===

Stony Brook, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Incoming Stony Brook athletic director
Shawn Heilbron has named former Auburn assistant coach Caroline McCombs as the
 new head women's basketball coach.

McCombs replaces Beth O'Boyle, who recently accepted the head coaching
position at VCU after guiding the Seawolves to a 24-9 record and a WNIT bid
 this past season.

"We are thrilled to welcome Caroline to Stony Brook as the leader of our
women's basketball program," Heilbron said. "Our goal is to build a
championship caliber program that contends for America East titles and NCAA
Tournament berths on an annual basis. I believe that Caroline brings the
experience and vision that will allow the Seawolves to reach new heights.

"More importantly, Caroline demonstrated an ability and desire to be a mentor
to young women, and she embraces our mission to develop leaders on the court
and in the classroom. I am excited for each of our student-athletes who will
now have the opportunity to excel athletically and academically under her
 leadership."

McCombs spent the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons as an assistant coach and
 recruiting coordinator at Auburn.

She will be introduced at a press conference Friday.
