NBA Game Summary - New Orleans at Toronto

(Monday, February 10th)

Final Score: Toronto 108, New Orleans 101

Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - Patrick Patterson had 22 points and six rebounds to help the Toronto Raptors take a 108-101 win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday.

Kyle Lowry flirted with a triple-double thanks to 19 points, 12 assists and seven rebounds and DeMar DeRozan scored 22 points for the Raptors, who had dropped three of four coming in.

"The two games we have this week before the break are very important," said Patterson. "It can determine if we're sitting third, fourth or fifth in the Eastern Conference."

Tyreke Evans had 23 points and 10 assists and Anthony Davis gave 19 points with seven rebounds for the Pelicans, who have lost their past two.

"We didn't get much production from our starters and dug ourselves a hole," said New Orleans head coach Monte Williams. "We just didn't seem to have enough juice, so it's nice to have a day off tomorrow."

The score was tied at 49 entering the second half, and the Raptors used a 13-3 run to create some room as Patterson capped the run on a 3-pointer with under eight minutes to play for a 66-56 lead.

Another 7-0 run extended the lead to 15 points, 73-58, on a Terrence Ross 3- pointer and the Raptors eventually took an 82-70 lead into the final quarter.

New Orleans got back in striking distance with 10 unanswered points as Anthony Morrow's bucket three minutes in made it an 85-80 game.

A DeRozan jumper stanched the bleeding for the Raptors, but Davis converted a 3-point play and Luke Babbitt followed with a 3 for a one-point game, 87-86, with under seven minutes to play.

Lowry and Tyler Hansbrough, though, answered with a pair of free throws to start a 15-3 run highlighted by a Ross 3 and capped on a Lowry bucket for a 102-89 lead with under three minutes to play.

New Orleans got to within five, but it was in the final seconds of the game as Toronto held on for the win.

The Raptors raced out to a 31-20 lead after 12 minutes, with the Pelicans countering with a strong second quarter to tie the game at 49-49 after 24 minutes to play.
