United confirm Herrera capture

Manchester, England (SportsNetwork.com) - Manchester United confirmed the signing of midfielder Ander Herrera from La Liga side Athletic Bilbao on Thursday.

Bilbao rejected a 29 million pound bid for Herrera from the Red Devils on Thursday morning, but the player activated a clause in his contract which allowed the move to proceed.

"Signing for Manchester United is a dream come true," said Herrera, who has agreed to come to Old Trafford on a four-year deal. "I have joined United to do all I can to help the team reach the club's objectives."

United attempted to sign Herrera last summer with former manager David Moyes at the helm, but the deal fell through in the 11th hour on deadline day.

"Ander is a fantastic young player, with great energy and creativity," said United assistant manager Ryan Giggs. "We believe him to be one of the brightest young prospects in Spain and I am certain he will be a big hit with the United fans."
