Osasuna, Valladolid relegated from La Liga

Madrid, Spain (SportsNetwork.com) - Osasuna and Valladolid will be joining Real Betis in the Spanish Segunda Division next season after both clubs were relegated from La Liga on Sunday.

Osasuna needed a win over last-place Real Betis to have a chance at survival, and although the club recorded a 2-1 win on Sunday, it wasn't enough as other results failed to go their way.

Oriol Magem and Javier Caballero scored in the opening 15 minutes for Osasuna, while Francisco Torres pulled a goal back for Betis 20 minutes from time.

But despite Osasuna picking up three points, it wasn't enough as Almeria's 0-0 draw with Athletic Bilbao lifted the club one point above Osasuna, while Granada's 1-0 victory at Valladolid kept the home side in the bottom three while securing safety for the visitors.

The difference for Granada was a 44th-minute own goal from Valladolid's Stefan Mitrovic, which leaves Valladolid in 19th place and four points from safety.

Villarreal closed out its season with a 2-1 win at Real Sociedad courtesy of goals from Giovani Dos Santos and Ikechukwu Uche, Ciprian Marica scored a goal in each half to lift Getafe to a 2-1 win at Rayo Vallecano, while Sevilla downed Elche, 3-1, behind two goals from Vicente Iborra.
