Sochaux relegated after loss to Evian

Montbeliard, France (SportsNetwork.com) - Sochaux was relegated from the French top flight on Saturday as it suffered a humiliating 3-0 home loss to Evian.

The visitors were in front after only seven minutes thanks to Daniel Wass while Aldo Angoula struck four minutes before halftime to double Evian's advantage.

The hosts remained within touching distance until the 72nd minute when Wass grabbed his second of the match, securing the win for Evian and dooming Sochaux to Ligue 2 for next season.

Joining Sochaux in the second division next term will be Ajaccio and Valenciennes, which concluded their respective seasons with 3-1 road defeats to St. Etienne and Toulouse.

Lille, led by Salomon Kalou's brace, nailed down its Champions League qualification spot by coming from behind to get a resounding 4-1 win at Lorient. The win sees Lille finish third in the table on 71 points, two points ahead of St. Etienne.

Along with St. Etienne, Lyon solidified a Europa League qualification spot by getting a 1-0 win at Nice.

PSG concluded its title-winning season by getting a 4-0 victory over Montpellier while second-place Monaco could only manage a 1-1 draw against Bordeaux.

Elsewhere in the French top flight on Saturday, Andre Ayew bagged the lone goal in Marseille's 1-0 defeat of Guingamp, Rennes cruised to a 3-1 win at Reims and Bastia was held to a 0-0 home draw by Nantes.
