(Saturday, September 8th)

Final Score: Louisiana 37, Troy 24

Troy, AL (Sports Network) - Alonzo Harris ran for a game-high 137 yards and scored once as he helped lead the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns to a 37-24 victory over the Troy Trojans in Sun Belt Conference action at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

Harris carried the ball 21 times for the Ragin' Cajuns (2-0, 1-0 SBC) who made the most of their opportunities on the night. Terrence Broadway connected on 10-of-16 passing for 143 yards and a another score for Louisiana, while kicker Brett Baer converted all three of his field goal chances in the outing.

The Trojans (1-1, 0-1) were paced by Corey Robinson who hit on 46-of-70 pass attempts for 485 yards and two touchdowns in defeat. Chandler Worthy reeled in nine passes for a game-high 154 yards.

Troy scored the first points of the night when Deon Anthony found the end zone on an 11-yard run on the first possession of the contest.

However, from there Louisiana rattled off 20 unanswered points, beginning with a 10-yard TD run by Blaine Gautier later in the first.

The Ragin' Cajuns defense got in on the action when Jemarlous Moten scooped up a fumble and returned it 56 yards to the end zone to give the visitors a 14-7 edge heading into the second quarter. Moten tied for the game high with 12 tackles.

Baer made good on a pair of field goals from 25 yards out in the period to boost the lead to 20-7 for Louisiana.

Capping a six-play, 47-yard drive in the final minute of the first half, Robinson delivered a five-yard TD pass to Jaquon Robinson to cut the deficit to 20-14 at the break.

Troy kicker Will Scott connected on a 33-yard field goal at the 9:50 mark of the third, but again Louisiana was more than ready to respond, this time with three scoring drives.

The first came on a nine-yard TD pass from Broadway to Harry Peoples to finish a drive that used a mere 1:34 off the clock. Baer's 32-yard field goal lifted the lead to 30-17 and a two-yard TD run by Harris provided the visitors with a 20-point advantage in the fourth quarter.

A last gasp by the Trojans saw Robinson hit Eric Thomas with a five-yard TD pass with 3:12 remaining, but by then it was already too late for the hosts.

The Trojans generated a hefty 588 yards of total offense as they ran 102 plays, compared to just 389 yards on 62 snaps for Louisiana.
