(Saturday, November 3)

Final Score: Penn State 34, Purdue 9

West Lafayette, IN (Sports Network) - For the third time this season, Matt McGloin threw for more than 300 yards, as the Penn State Nittany Lions defeated the Purdue Boilermakers, 34-9, in Big Ten action at Ross-Ade Stadium.

McGloin completed 22-of-36 passes for 321 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions for Penn State (6-3, 4-1 Big Ten), which bounced back nicely after last week's defeat to Ohio State. Zach Zwinak rushed for a career- high 134 yards, and Brandon Moseby-Felder also marked personal-bests by catching six passes for 129 yards. Michael Zordich had just 33 yards rushing but he tallied two touchdowns.

For Purdue (3-6, 0-5), Robert Marve completed 22-of-39 passes for 138 yards before being spelled for Caleb TerBush late in the third quarter. TerBush finished 10-of-20 for 155 yards, which included a touchdown pass to Antavian Edison (nine receptions, 93 yards). The Boilermakers have dropped five in the row.

The Boilermakers managed to drive deep into Penn State territory on their first possession, but they had to settle for a 21-yard field goal from Sam McCartney to get off to an early 3-0 lead. The Nittany Lions tied the game later in the quarter with a field goal of their own off the foot of Sam Ficken (27 yards).

A 42-yard pass from McGloin to Moseby-Felder set Penn State up inside the Purdue 10-yard line, and it was able to take advantage as Zordich scored from six yards out for the first touchdown of the game.

Ficken added another short field goal (24 yards) with under four minutes to play in the first half. PSU got the ball back following a Purdue three-and-out and capitalized with a five-play, 65-yard drive, culminating in a five-yard touchdown run by Zordich, as the Nittany Lions took a 20-3 advantage into the break.

Penn State continued its run after halftime as McGloin connected with Jesse James for a 12-yard touchdown pass early in the third quarter. A 41-yard scoring strike from McGloin to Moseby-Felder later in the quarter gave the Nittany Lions 34 unanswered points. It was Moseby-Felder's first career touchdown.

Penn State spent most of the fourth quarter running out the clock, but the Boilermakers managed to add a touchdown in the waning seconds of the game on a two-yard pass from TerBush to Edison.

The Nittany Lions held Purdue to just 87 yards rushing on 26 carries.
