NCAA Game Summary - Tulsa at Marshall

Huntington, WV (Sports Network) - Cody Green completed 9-of-17 passes for 90 yards and one touchdown to lead the Tulsa Golden Hurricane to a 45-38 victory over the Marshall Thundering Herd in a Conference USA bout at Joan C. Edwards Stadium.
The Tulsa (5-1, 3-0 C-USA) running attack made an impact as well. Trey Watts had 111 yards on 18 carries and Alex Singleton had 94 yards and three touchdowns on 16 attempts.
Marshall (2-4, 1-1) quarterback Rakeem Cato completed 31-of-44 passes for 391 yards and three touchdowns with one interception. Cato had a good rhythm going throughout the game, completing a pass to eight different receivers. Aaron Dobson caught a team-high 10 passes for 128 yards. Antavious Wilson caught seven passes for 123 yards and scored two touchdowns. Gator Hoskins caught four passes for 89 yards and one touchdown.
Hoskins fumbled on the second play of the game and Tulsa recovered it at the Marshall 46-yard line. Tulsa capitalized on the next drive when kicker Daniel Schwarz made a 36-yard field goal to put them up 3-0.
Marshall regained possession and Justin Haig made a 20-yard field goal to tie up the game at 3-3.
Tulsa responded with a 48-yard touchdown run by Singleton to put it up 10-3.
Tulsa started the second quarter with a 16-play, 63-yard scoring drive when Singleton punched a four yard touchdown run to add on to their lead at 17-3.
Towards the end of the second quarter, Marshall's Kevin Grooms scored on a six yard touchdown run, which made the score 17-10.
On the ensuing kickoff, Tulsa's kick returner fumbled which gave the ball back to the Thundering Herd. Cato connected with Wilson for a 11-yard touchdown to tie up the game at 17-17 as the first half neared its end.
Tulsa opened up the second half with a 13-play, 69-yard touchdown drive which was punctuated by a two-yard touchdown run by Singleton.
Tulsa added on to its lead when Dwight Dobbins recovered a fumble and returned it 11 yards for a score. The extra point snap was fumbled and returned by Marshall to give it two points, which left the Herd trailing, 30-19.
On the ensuing possession, Remi Watson punched it in for a one yard touchdown run, but Marshall still trailed by five after its two-point conversion try was stopped.
On the very next kickoff, Tulsa's Watts took it 95 yards back into the end zone for the Hurricanes to put them up 37-25.
Marshall came right back when Cato connected with Hoskins for a 72-yard touchdown and made the score 37-32.
The Thundering Herd regained possession and Cato connected with Wilson for a 32-yard touchdown, which gave them their first lead, 38-37. Their two-point conversion failed.
The Hurricanes came right back with a four-yard touchdown pass from Green to Jordan James. The two-point conversion was good when Green connected with Thomas Roberson to put his team up, 45-38.
Tulsa stuffed Marshall twice in the red zone to hang on for the 45-38 victory.
Even though Marshall outgained Tulsa in total yards 572-340, it was not enough for the victory. Tulsa outgained Marshall in rushing yards 250-169.
