Jeremy HellicksonSPRays right-hander Jeremy Hellickson, just off the disabaled list, pitched well for his first start since July 8.Hellickson has missed most of the season due to elbow surgery. He had a 5.17 ERA last year, but his career ERA is 3.69 and it's 1.00 through his first two starts this season.7/26/2014 11:32:00 PM
Matt JoyceRFRays OF/DH Matt Joyce has a career .333 batting average (8-for-24) with two home runs against Red Sox starter John Lackey.Joyce is one of four Rays starters (Evan Longoria, Yunel Escobar, Ben Zobrist are the others) batting over .333 for their career versus Lackey.7/26/2014 11:11:00 AM
HotDavid PriceSPIn what may have been his final start with the Rays, David Price struck out 10, walked none and allowed three runs over eight innings against the Red Sox.Price has won six straight starts and pitched to a 1.88 ERA and a 99/13 K/BB in his last 11. In that span, he's thrown at least seven innings in all 11 starts and averaged nearly eight innings per outing. The Rays have won eight straight and are now 50-53, so they may just decide to keep Price.7/25/2014 10:35:00 PM
Ben Zobrist2BTampa Bay second baseman Ben Zobrist bounced back from a 0-for-12 stretch with four hits in four at-bats Friday night against the Red Sox.Since June 25, Zobrist has gone 31-for-94 (.330) with six doubles, two triples, two homers, 13 RBI and 14 runs in 24 games. His numbers on the season still aren't impressive, but his versatility (2B/SS/OF) gives him extra fantasy value.7/25/2014 10:28:00 PM
Desmond JenningsCFTampa Bay center fielder Desmond Jennings has had a nice month of July, going 20-for-64 with seven doubles, two homers and 14 runs. He's still hitting just .249 because he came into the month batting .235. Jennings is on pace to finish with nearly identical numbers to the past two seasons. At age 27, he's likely not going to improve much from the player he is right now.7/25/2014 10:20:00 PM
Alex CobbSPRays starter Alex Cobb struck out 10 batters and walked none over seven scoreless innings Wednesday at St. Louis.Cobb has won his last four decisions, but this was his best start since June 18.7/23/2014 10:42:00 PM
Joel PeraltaRPRays reliever Joel Peralta is expected to be placed on the 15-day disabled list due to illness.Peralta (4.15 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, 44 strikeouts, 13 holds) has little to offer fantasy owners.7/22/2012 11:24:00 AM
James Loney1BRays first baseman James Loney is one of the rare hitters with a history of success versus Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright.Loney is a career .462 hitter (12-for-26) with a 1.154 OPS against Wainwright. He's a non-power hitting first baseman, who can hit for a decent average and knock in runs when needed, but isn't an everyday fantasy option.7/22/2014 10:29:00 AM
Yunel EscobarSSRays shortstop Yunel Escobar owns a .583 average against Minnesota's Kevin Correia.Escobar is hitting just .249 with four homers and a .657 OPS in 281 at-bats this season so he won't cost you much Sunday, but he could be a good option against Correia. He's gone 7-for-12 with two doubles against the right-hander.7/20/2014 12:49:00 PM
Ben Zobrist2BTampa Bay second baseman Ben Zobrist is hitless in 16 at-bats against Minnesota right-hander Phil Hughes.Zobrist has raised his average from .247 to .267 and his OPS from .726 to .766 since July 1 , but this unfavorable matchup should be avoided.7/19/2014 10:43:00 AM

HotRick PorcelloSPTigers right-hander Rick Porcello allowed one unearned run on five hits, struck out six and walked none over seven innings Sunday against the Angels. After stranding less than 70 percent of his baserunners every year from 2010-13, Porcello has stranded a career-high 74.7 percent in 2014 and it has resulted in a career-low 3.24 ERA. He's gone 4-1 with a 2.18 ERA and a 0.97 WHIP over his last eight starts and is tied with Masahiro Tanaka, Sonny Gray and teammate Max Scherzer for first in the AL with 12 wins.7/27/2014 9:53:00 PM
ColdJ.D. MartinezOFTigers outfielder J.D. Martinez is back in the lineup Friday after missing the past two games due to a quad injury.Martinez took a .346 average, 13 homers and 43 RBI over 188 at-bats into the All-Star break, but he's gone 3-for-20 (.150) since the break.7/25/2014 7:29:00 PM
HotJoakim SoriaRPThe Tigers have agreed to trade closer Joakim Soria to the Detroit Tigers for pitching prospects Jake Thompson and Corey Knebel, according to Jon Morosi of FOX Sports.Tigers closer Joe Nathan has a 5.89 ERA, a 1.53 WHIP and five blown saves this season. It's unclear if Soria will take the closer job from him, but that would make sense. Soria has a 2.70 ERA, a 0.87 WHIP and a 42/4 K/BB in 33 1/3 innings. Thompson and Knebel are both top-five prospects in Detroit's system, so this would be a steep price to give up if the Tigers plan to use Soria in the eighth inning.7/23/2014 10:27:00 PM
J.D. MartinezOFTigers outfielder J.D. Martinez missed Wednesday's game due to a quad injury, according to mlive.com.Martinez took a .346 average, 13 homers and 43 RBI over 188 at-bats into the All-Star break, but he's gone 3-for-20 (.150) since the break.7/23/2014 8:50:00 PM
Rajai DavisLFTigers left fielder Rajai Davis went 3-for-5 with one RBI and one steal Wednesday against Arizona.Davis has raised his average from .274 to .301 since July 6. He has six home runs, 33 RBI, 38 runs and 25 steals in 269 at-bats this season.7/23/2014 8:49:00 PM
HotAustin JacksonCFTigers center fielder Austin Jackson had yet another multi-hit game Wednesday against the Diamondbacks (2-5, 2 2B, 3 RBI, 2 R)That makes six straight and nine in his past 10 games. Jackson has batted .382 with 10 doubles, two triples, one homer, nine RBI and 17 runs in his past 18 games. 7/23/2014 8:43:00 PM
Anibal SanchezSPDetroit starter Anibal Sanchez beat the Diamondbacks Wednesday, but he wasn't sharp. The right-hander gave up five runs on 11 hits in 6 1/3 innings.Sanchez has a 3.45 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP this season, but he's fanned just 81 batters in 107 innings. His 6.81 K/9 is down from 9.99 last season and 7.91 for his career.7/23/2014 8:42:00 PM
Miguel Cabrera1BDetroit first baseman Miguel Cabrera went 2-for-4 with a homer, three RBI and two runs Wednesday at Arizona. It was his first homer of July. Cabrera has batted .315 with 80 RBI and 61 runs this season, but he's on pace for 25 home runs, down from 44 in each of the past two years. It would be his lowest total since he hit 12 in 314 at-bats as a rookie.7/23/2014 8:40:00 PM
Drew SmylySPTigers left-hander Drew Smyly returned to form Sunday against the Indians after giving up 13 runs on 23 hits in his last 14 1/3 innings.Smyly held Cleveland to one run on four hits and fanned six batters in seven innings to win his sixth game of the season. With a 3.80 ERA, a 1.33 WHIP and 76 Ks in 94 2/3 innings, he's been a low-end fantasy option this year.7/20/2014 5:24:00 PM
HotTorii HunterRFDetroit right fielder Torii Hunter has batted .373 with four home runs and 17 RBI in July. From May 7 to July 1, Hunter hit just .194 because he had a .195 BABIP. His luck has turned around lately. He went 1-for-3 with a homer, two RBI, a walk and two runs Sunday against Cleveland.7/20/2014 5:19:00 PM
