Carlos RodonSPThird overall pick Carlos Rodon is very close to becoming a big leaguer according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Rodon made his Triple-A debut in Charlotte on Wednesday in front of a sellout crowd. The 21-year-old pitched three innings, allowed one run, struck out three and walked three. The right-hander had given up one homer in his previous 22 2/3 innings and 13 homers in 136 1/3 innings this season prior to Monday. Yunel EscobarSSRays shortstop Yunel Escobar won't be traded to the Athletics, according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times.The A's claimed Escobar off revocable waivers, but the Rays have pulled him back. Escobar's offense has been in decline for years and he also has a negative UZR at shortstop for the first time in his career.
