Chargers' Gordon out, Berry rejoins KC

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon joined his backup Austin Ekeler on the inactive list for their high-profile AFC West showdown against the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday night.

Gordon and Ekeler combined for 103 yards rushing and 189 yards receiving when the teams met in Los Angeles to open the season. But after Gordon tested his injured knee in warmups, he conferred with coach Anthony Lynn and general manager Tom Telesco and shook his head, "No."

Gordon has now missed three consecutive games with the knee injury.

Eagles QB Wentz has fractured vertebrae

PHILADELPHIA (AP) Carson Wentz has a back injury. The severity is still not known.

Two people familiar with the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback's injury confirmed reports that Wentz has a fractured vertebra, but no definitive determination has been made regarding his status, pending further evaluation. (MORE)

Beckham having quad further evaluated

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) New York Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has had his injured quad examined by a specialist and his status for Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans is uncertain.

Beckham went to The Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan on Thursday and returned to the Giants' facility after getting the second opinion. (MORE)

LAS VEGAS (AP) Seattle Mariners general manager Jerry Dipoto was in a hospital, making a trade from a bed.

NEW YORK (AP) The Brooklyn Nets gave Spencer Dinwiddie a contract extension Thursday, a day after the best game of his career.
